Erik left for Australia for the next 10 months, my beloved hunny was away training for 2 weeks, and Jonathan is staying with friends now. So the house is quite. The house is large. For most all my northwest friends this would be nothing for them as they were single for quite some time before being married and having children. For me--I left home at 17 and got married and within the next 2 years had children--and have had them every since.

Over the next few months and years it will be interesting to see who I become--or who am I really. What do I like? Who is this man I have married? What does he like?

Well see how time lays out what's next in this chapter.

Fall 2009 update

We have had a busy few months. My dad came to visit in early September for 2 weeks--it was good to see him and visit. I took most of the time off and we just hung out around the house. It was good to finally be home for a change.

We finally got an offer on the house approved (that we started on in July). So while my dad was here he got to see the new house, go through our home inspection with us, and hang out at Home Depot while I did some price shopping. All while I received his great wealth of knowledge.

Dad helped get Pat's mustang running smoothly, Jon's bmw on the road, a few brake lights fixed--the air compressor. Well you get the picture--he is very handy to have around. It will probably be a few years before we see him again so I am glad I got to keep him as long as I did :)

We should have closed by Oct 22--but there have been delays at this time with the funding peeps--so maybe move in by early November. Moving over to Old Town Sherwood

Jonathan has now turned 18--which seems odd. I don't think of myself as being old enough to have an 18 year old. Most of my friends are just starting to have little ones and I am just about cleared to go into the empty nest.

Erik is still working on the last bit of funding to leave for Austria in January for a year--i bet he will have a blast there. I am so excited for him to visit and learn so many new things :)

Pat is still looking for work--he has applied at 3 or 4 police station this month. Nothing yet. He had a few interviews in August with no luck yet. One of the companies told him there were very interested but for later this year--maybe later will come soon as the year is almost to an end.

Grateful to still have a steady job to support the gang--

House hunting!

We have been married a little of 3 years now. After year 1 we began to look at buying the home we had been renting for a few years, and at the end of summer Pat lost his job. That was almost 2 years ago this September. We were blessed at that time to have been debt free, and have lived in that manner for the last 2 years. After sometime we have begun the process of looking at homes again, other details have come about in which we have decided to not buy the house we have called home for 5 years, the neighborhood in which we have lived for 8.5 years. To leave the church we have been in for 9 years to venture out past my saftey net. Yes....we are looking to move to possibly the west side of town...

We spent the better half of Friday with the morgage guy Tony, camping on what information he gave us over the weekend. We started searching Sunday night and by Tuesday we had looked at over 9 homes with our realtor Steve. It is great to have such good friends who know great people to work with. Spent the evening last night talking with our dear friends who have allowed us an opportunity to rent there home, while I finished school, getting out of debt, and overly blessed us in so many ways to let them know we would not be staying here. Again so blessed to have them in our lives and to be shown Christ love.

So our search begins, slow and steady. Steady plodding bring prosperity Prov 21:5 Much to think about in the next few days and weeks to come.

Army life from a wife and mother's perspective

I am seeing another part of myself that could use some adjustment/stretching. And to be honest I don't like to be stretched unless I say I want to be stretched and this is what I am doing to be stretched. So if that sounds like "control" it is....it's one of my issues.

So Pat is scheduled to be home sometime at the end of next week, and Jonathan the following week. We have not been told any set information about Jonathan. What we are told is that he would come home and be here from 3 days to 2 weeks and then be sent to GA. The story keeps changing after that...he may come home again, maybe not, he may leave straight from GA to oversees, he may get time off again and stay in GA but that doesn't mean I could afford and 1,000 flight for last minute information.....nothing else is clear at this time. I am told the focus is the mission and training the troops for the mission. For that part I understand. I want him to be trained to the best possible pieces so that he comes home alive and telling of a great adventure he had.

But for now----I don't like it, not feeling well, kinda makes me sick, all this is connected to someone else and when they decide to tell me. My fear is that I won't be able to spend time with him before he leaves. I know plenty of people who come and go many times there, but he's my son.

The emotions are stating to flow, just getting updated information from Jonathan's unit on deploying and all that comes with that. I have posted a link from the local newspaper on the unit.

http://blog.oregonlive.com/oregonatwar/oregon_national_guard/

And then we have Erik looking to study aboard next year in Astrilia--fun, fun he will be looking for work this summer to pay for the funds to go.

So lots of comings and goings this year--I am going through many emotional phases of it all--but I am a mom and that's ok!

The week....
Jonathan was unable to sign into the miltary this past week for a ship date of Nov 15. So in the coming week he will retake his ASVAB test and hopefully be able to sign into the miltary this coming Thursday.....

I got my braces on Thursday...top and bottom and my mouth is still sore. However I have lost like 9 lbs. I think I like that part...just without the sore mouth. :)

We got a wonderful call on Wednesday for about 45 minutes from Pat. He will be coming home on Dec 19th for a few weeks. I am so excited to see him and have him home even if for a few days. Graduation is just around the cornor and I am already starting to pack my bags and am trying to find just the right thisng to wear.

The boys hung out over at Bill's for the weekend~myself I was out with friends on Friday and Saturday. It was good to see a few old friends and get catch up. My sister-in-law from NM who moved up here earlier this year let me crash here place this Saturday it was fun to get to know her a little more. On Sunday I got to know my other brother-in law a little more also. Jonathan is looking to ship out to his basic training next Friday Nov 14th. The rest of that story goes well with wine and cheese ladies and gents. Wine and Cheese!

With his shipping off to basic will come it's own set of challenges but ones for him to deal with as a young man on his own. He has been able to call able once a week for about 5 minutes not long enough but he has been sending plenty of letters which has helped us both stay connected. Today is Memorial day, each year on the Thursday before this weekend our Boy Scout troop visits Lincoln Memorial and places flags at each grave site. Our Troop covers section X, the newest members for Iraq and Afghanistan. This year it seems a little more real. Just last month April 14th to be exact, my husband joined the Army reserves and will ship out to basic in Sept. then on to his AIT training in Dec-May he will be gone for 7 1/2 months total. I am finding that my views for president also are changing to those who want to bring the soldiers home. Selfish, is what I am. Well this is the life we have chosen to step in as we begin our journey into the Army reserves.
